DEENA BLAKE
I am a proud product of the “sweetest town in Texas,” at least that’s what the sign says. Born and raised in the small Northeast Texas town of Honey Grove, I was very involved in performing arts and got my first radio job at KOYN in Paris…Texas, y’all. Full of high hopes and big dreams of being on television, I packed my bags for Austin to attend the University of Texas. While continuing to work in radio all through college, I took a paid TV internship after graduation. I realized I didn’t like television at all and couldn’t imagine my life without radio being a part of it.
I’ve followed radio jobs around the country and been on the air in Austin, Nashville, Washington, DC and Chicago. I also held down some air shifts remotely for quite a few years in lots of cities throughout the country. Since I moved away from Texas in 2002, all I wanted to do was get back here. It took some time and quite a few detours, but I couldn’t be happier to be back here in God’s Country where I belong.
When I’m not on KOKE, I’m busy with my full time job as Mom to my little boy Austin. What else? Like any good Texas girl, I have loved George Strait since I was 5 years old.
