It’s George Strait week.
Monday (May 18th) was The King’s 68th birthday, so I think we need to extend it to a whole week honoring him. Heck, let’s just make it the whole year.
With that said, I wanted to take a look at my favorite song about ole George, Fit For The King by Kyle Park.
Austin born and Leander raised, Kyle is one of the best Texas artists out there. It’s been seven years since the official release of the tribute song on his Beggin’ For More album and yet it remains just as powerful listening to it today for the 400th time as it did back then.
The song is compiled of 31 George Strait song titles and a number of different Strait musical riffs to create a song with a story and a beautiful sound. To say it’s smart is an understatement.
Park was sitting on this masterpiece for years. An acoustic Fit For The King can be found as a secret track 30 seconds after the last song These Days on Park’s 2008 album Anywhere In Texas. Listen to it below.
