Happy birthday Willie Nelson!
The Red-Headed Stranger turns 87-years-old today. He’s just as much respected by fellow artists as he is adored by music fans everywhere. So here are a few of the best Willie covers.
Chris Stapleton could read a book about paint drying and make it sound good, but we’d rather hear him sing the classic Gary P. Nunn penned Willie hit ‘Last Thing I Need First Thing This Morning’.
Bob Dylan did a very Bob Dylan ‘Angles Flying Too Close To The Ground’
Allison Krauss has a knack for making covers totally her own. Her version of ‘I Never Cared For You’ has so many layers that make for one heck of a song.
Finally, we have Patsy Cline with ‘Crazy’. It’s funny to call this one a cover, because it’s Patsy that made this song a hit and really boosted Willie’s career. Willie has gone on record saying that no one has performed his song better than the late Cline and that when she sang it there was “a lot of magic.” A lot of magic indeed.

Chris is the best as far as I am concerned!! GREAT cover.
