Aww, April 2019 a simpler time… or was it?
See, this time a year ago we traveled back in country music time to… um, around 1993 or so. Now, we’re going to travel back a year to in turn travel back to the ’90s. Confusing? Let me clear things up.
It all started with how most time travel tales begin, with a time machine. A honky tonk time machine to be exact. On March 29th, 2019 the king of country music, George Strait, released the album ‘Honky Tonk Time Machine’ traditional country music fans all over the world rejoiced.
Then just a week later two other forces released new music in album form. Reba McEntire with ‘Stronger Than The Truth’ and Brooks and Dunn with ‘Reboot’ a best of type album with a twist.
Within a matter of days, album sales were #1, #2, and #3. It gave many hope, good ole country music was not dead, no, no it was thriving.
Now it didn’t last forever and other not so traditional country albums took their spot, but man oh man, that a nice moment. A moment that will happen again, because there isn’t a lack of good country music being released, most of the time it’s just harder to find than it should be.
Now the best way to reminisce is to put on one of those albums or maybe some older Brooks and Dunn or Keith Whitley, Patsy Cline, maybe Dale Watson. The beauty of county music is letting it take you wherever you need to be. It’s the greatest medicine of all.
