There are certain things Texans take very seriously, and Blue Bell ice cream is definitely on that list.
One longtime fan favorite is back in the freezer aisle: Homemade in the Shade.
The flavor starts with Blue Bell’s Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and adds a swirl of rich chocolate fudge sauce. Simple, but apparently very missed.
When Blue Bell brought Homemade in the Shade back, it marked the flavor’s first appearance in stores in about a decade. The Brenham based company said it had remained one of its most requested flavors during its absence.
According to Blue Bell, the idea behind the flavor came from customers who liked topping Homemade Vanilla with chocolate sauce. So, naturally, Blue Bell decided to go ahead and put the chocolate right in the carton.
The ice cream also returned with updated packaging featuring a big oak tree, but the recipe itself stayed the same.
Homemade in the Shade is available now wherever Blue Bell is sold, so if this one has been on your comeback wish list, it might be time to make a little room in the freezer.
