Willie Nelson has announced a new book that will offer a personal look at aging, creativity and the woman who has been by his side for 35 years.
The Last Leaf: Reflections on Late-Life Creativity—and My Longest Love Affair is set for release November 10 through Penguin Press.
At the heart of the book is Willie’s relationship with his wife, Annie D’Angelo, whom he married in 1991. Willie has described the book as a love story and Annie as its heroine.
The 93 year old Texas country legend also opens up about his serious battle with COVID in 2022 and the role Annie played in helping him through the illness. Willie has credited his wife with keeping him alive during a time when he believed he might not survive.
The book also reflects on Willie’s life in his 90s, his thoughts on aging and mortality, and the creativity that continues to drive his music and writing.
The new book comes during another busy year for Willie. His latest album, Dream Chaser, was released May 29 and marked his 79th solo studio album and 156th album overall.
The Last Leaf: Reflections on Late-Life Creativity—and My Longest Love Affair will be released November 10 and is available for preorder now.
