Some of the biggest names in Texas music are coming together for a night dedicated to the people behind the songs!
The Texas Heritage Songwriters Association is preparing for its 21st annual Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards Show, happening Saturday, February 20, 2027, at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin. With an outstanding class of inductees and a special honor for one of Texas music’s most respected musicians, this is shaping up to be another memorable celebration of the Lone Star State’s musical heritage.
The 2027 Hall of Fame class includes Jim Beavers, Shane McAnally, Kimmie Rhodes, and brothers Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Grammy Award-winning producer, musician and songwriter Lloyd Maines will also be recognized with the prestigious Darrell K. Royal Texas Music Legend Award.
And what a group to celebrate!
Jim Beavers has written some of country music’s most recognizable hits, including Luke Bryan’s “Drink a Beer,” Dierks Bentley’s “5-1-5-0” and Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup.”
Fellow inductee Shane McAnally is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer whose work with artists including Kacey Musgraves, Midland, Miranda Lambert and Kenny Chesney has helped shape modern country music.
Texas songwriting treasure Kimmie Rhodes joins the class after decades of writing, recording and performing. Her songs have been recorded by Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris and many others.
The association will also celebrate the extraordinary musical legacy of Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Dallas-raised brothers whose contributions to Texas blues helped introduce the state’s distinctive sound to audiences around the world.
Adding to an already impressive evening, Lloyd Maines will receive the Darrell K. Royal Texas Music Legend Award. A legendary steel guitarist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Maines has played an instrumental role in the careers of countless Texas artists and helped shape the sound of Texas music for generations.
What makes the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame so special is its dedication to recognizing the writers and musicians whose creativity has given Texas music its identity. The nonprofit Texas Heritage Songwriters Association works to preserve that legacy, bringing artists and music lovers together for an evening of performances, tributes and the stories behind the songs.
Over the years, the organization has honored an incredible collection of Texas talent, including Willie Nelson, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Robert Earl Keen, Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt.
The 2027 awards show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin. Additional performers and special guests will be announced.
Tickets have been announced, giving Texas music fans an opportunity to be part of an evening celebrating some of the state’s most influential songwriters and musicians.
