Dolly Parton has officially opened the doors to her newest venture, and it’s unlike anything she’s ever done before.
The country music icon celebrated the grand opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, giving travelers a roadside destination that’s packed with food, shopping, live music, and plenty of Dolly-inspired touches.
The 50,000-square-foot travel center is open 24 hours a day and features fuel, EV charging stations, a full-service Southern restaurant, grab-and-go barbecue, Dolly’s “Cup of Ambition” coffee, a general store, truck parking, a dog park, showers, laundry facilities, and even an event space for live entertainment.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dolly joked about the inevitable comparisons to Buc-ee’s.
“I’m sure some of you are wondering why I wanted a truck stop,” she said. “Well, I couldn’t leave it to beavers.”
She quickly added that she isn’t trying to compete with anyone, saying the goal is simply to create a welcoming place where travelers can relax, eat, shop, and enjoy a little Tennessee hospitality.
According to Dolly, the project was inspired by the countless miles she’s traveled throughout her career. She wanted to create the kind of stop she’d enjoy visiting herself, one that feels comfortable, entertaining, and uniquely Tennessee.
The Cornersville location is the first Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop, with additional locations planned in the future.
