Country star Riley Green just picked up a pretty unexpected new title… Doctor.
Green returned to his alma mater, Jacksonville State University, on April 30 to deliver the commencement address, and while he was there, the school awarded him an honorary Doctor of Letters degree.
The honor recognizes not just his success in country music, but also the way he continues to support his hometown and stay connected to the university.
If you didn’t know, Riley’s ties to Jacksonville State run deep. Before the chart-topping songs and sold-out shows, he was a quarterback for the Gamecocks long before music became the full-time plan.
During the ceremony, he addressed graduates and shared part of his journey, going from a college athlete in Alabama to one of the biggest names in country music today.
So yeah… technically, that’s Dr. Riley Green now.
