It doesn’t get much more Texas than this.
Miranda Lambert surprised fans over the weekend when she stepped back on stage to join George Strait during his back-to-back shows in Lubbock.
Lambert had already opened the show, but later returned during Strait’s set for a moment that felt pretty full-circle. Before the performance, she shared that Strait had given her the rare opportunity to pick what they would sing together.
After some serious thought, she landed on two fan-favorite cuts from his catalog: “I Wanna Dance With You” and “She’ll Leave You With A Smile.”
Strait backed her choices, calling them “good ones,” and even flipped the script a bit by saying he was the lucky one to be sharing the stage with her.
The two Texas natives traded vocals and harmonies while the crowd sang along, turning the stadium into one big choir.
For Lambert, the moment carried some extra weight. Early in her career, she toured as an opening act for Strait. Fast forward to now, and the two are standing side by side, celebrating just how far she’s come.
After the show, Lambert summed it up simply on social media: “I George Strait!!!”
Strait’s run continues with more dates on the calendar, including a stop in Austin next month, while Lambert keeps a packed schedule of festival appearances ahead.
