David Lewis has a new one out called “Floorboard Full Of Roses,” and it’s a fun, upbeat ride that leans straight into that traditional country sound.
The song was written by Drake Milligan, Phil Lammonds, and Trent Willmon, and the storyline is about as classic as it gets … just a guy trying to get home after being gone, roses riding shotgun, hoping he can still pull off a good night with his lady.
It’s got plenty of energy, with fiddle and steel layered in, and it definitely knows exactly what lane it wants to be in.
It’s not trying to do anything groundbreaking, but it doesn’t really need to. Sometimes a straightforward, feel-good country song does the job just fine.
Give it a listen above and see what you think.
