The Chief and The King are bringing in the money.
Eric Church and George Strait are the top two country acts on Billboard’s annual Money Makers report, which ranks the earnings of the top 40 music acts based on 2019 U.S. concert grosses and recording royalties generated in the same period from domestic sales, streaming and publishing.
So basically who made the most money from their music and music alone. No TV hosting/coaching/judging deals (*cough cough* Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan) or anything like that.
There were a number of other country names on the list, well at least sorta country. I guess FGL still call themselves country. Here are the top country earners with their position on the overall list and how much they made in 2019.
11. Eric Church – $25.85M
17. George Strait – $21.3M
21. Florida Georgia Line – $20.89M
30. Carrie Underwood – $17.5M
33. Zac Brown – $17.1M
34. Luke Combs – $17.05M
35. Thomas Rhett – $16.7M
37. Jason Aldean – $16.3M
Oh, the Rolling Stones got the number one spot. Those old dudes raked in $65 million last year over $20 million more than number two Ariana Grande.
I reckon next year will be different with the lack of live shows. Eric and George have a following like no other, so it’ll come down to streams. So folks, stream good artists, it’s all I ask.
