Tonight, Friday, May 17th at the Broken Spoke see Two Tons of Steel, Derailers, The Wagoneers w/ Monte Warden and special guests! Music starts at 8:00 pm in the dancehall and the doors to the dancehall will open at 7:00 pm. It’s gonna be a night filled with awesome Rockabilly & Country music!
There will also be great live auction items & silent auction items. Some of the items so far are a Golfing Day with Ray Benson, which includes a golfing package at Barton Creek Country Club, a guitar signed by George Strait, a cowboy hat signed by George Strait, guitar signed by Kevin Fowler plus concert tickets & meet/greet, a private concert w/ Gary P Nunn (catered party for 16 people), purses, cowboy boots, more hats, paintings by Ginny White-Peacock, photography by Winker & some beautiful western shirts including a shirt owned by Brian Holfeldt from the Derailers and a beaded & rhinestone western shirt that was owned by James White!
Celebrate and come together to raise money so Ginny can get “back on her feet.” She needs help from everyone so she can get prosthetic legs. As you might imagine they are quite pricey, but essential for Ginny to start living a full life again. She’s a wife and mother of 2 young boys so she has a busy life to live!
If you don’t know already, Ginny was struck down with the StrepA bacteria in October 2018 and she went into Toxic Shock as a result of the bacterial infection entering her bloodstream. About 500 people in the USA go into Toxic Shock a year and only 25% survive so she beat unbelievable odds. Unfortunately, the meds the doctors had to use to save her life actually starved her limbs of oxygen & blood so she did have to get 9 fingers partially amputated and both of her legs were amputated just below the knee. She was in the hospital for 2 months and she still has some surgeries in the near future. It’s still hard for all of us to believe everything we all have gone through. Talk about your life changing in a matter of minutes!
But Ginny, Mike (her hubby) and family have all made it this far and it really is time to celebrate and come together and help a sista out! We are so lucky to have such a great music community here in Austin and so many musicians have come forward wanting to play or contribute in someway so that’s when we decided to have a Benefit for Ginny!
Ginny has had a great attitude through all of this craziness and just wants to celebrate her new, very different, life with family, friends and Austin, TX!! Ginny’s dad, James White (owner of the Broken Spoke) likes to say “its better to laugh than cry” and that has really become Ginny’s motto. She’s also said how important it is to be nice to people cuz you never know when you’re going to have to ask all of them for a huge favor!
