Austin Radio Network Business Manager

Austin Radio Network has an immediate opening for a Business Manager.  This position is responsible for the business functions of the group and the organization’s human resources practices.  The Business Manager is a problem solver who works to overcome the obstacles that may prevent a department or the company from performing at a high level.

This position’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Accounting and Business Functions

  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities including the preparation of journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly invoicing
  • Manage day to day finances including accounts payable
  • Compile and calculate monthly sales commission statements
  • Prepare Payroll
  • Participate in the forecasting and budgeting processes
  • Supervise Admin Personnel
  • Oversee FCC Compliance duties
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

HR Functions

  • Manage Applicant Tracking from job requisition to hire, including EEO procedures
  • Track and manage PTO program
  • Act as liaison for Company  Benefits including Annual Open Enrollment and COBRA
  • Maintain Employee Personnel files
  • Resolve employee issues and managing projects to support company goals and culture
  • Maintain FCC public files
  • Annual reporting compliance (EE01 report)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience in Broadcast Media
  • Knowledge of Radio/TV Traffic systems ( Marketron knowledge a plus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, efficient organizational and time management skills, and an eye for detail
  • Proven ability to work with all employee and managements levels
  • Experience in QuickBooks
  • Excellent experience in Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel , and
  • Familiarity with benefits and employment eligibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Human Resource Certification

The Austin Radio Network internship program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about radio broadcasting, marketing, events, and other broadcast duties within ARN.

Requirements: Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and must receive school credit – NO exceptions. Students must be 18 years. Minimum GPA of 2.0.

General Information: Internships are offered year round and coincide with school semesters. Interns work approximately 20-25 hours/week depending on school requirements. Flexible scheduling depending on department needs. All interns must comply with internship guidelines and are subject to applicable ARN employee rules.

We are currently seeking KOKE-FM Morning Show/Promotions interns. If you are interested in the radio business, this is a great place to build experience!

As an intern, you will be working in a high-energy, fast paced environment assisting the producers/air talent/promotions coordinators with events and custom marketing programs.

Interns will assist in the day-to-day internal & external operations of radio stations and help with other stations, as needed. KOKE-FM interns will work directly with the on-air staff producers preparing materials for the broadcast, updating station website, audio editing, researching show content, managing social media, setting up equipment, assisting the marketing/promotions departments with prizing, copy writing, calendar updates, listener relations, street team events, and performing a few administrative tasks.

This internship is unpaid, and you must receive college credit.
