Can you help save a historic Texas dance hall? Yes, you can!
After Thanksgiving Thursday, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a national day of giving back. Today, we’re kicking off the season of giving by announcing our most recent grants to make repairs to Texas dance halls.
Through our Preservation Fund, Texas Dance Hall Preservation is making two $2,500 grants this year – to help SPJST Lodge No. 1 (Fayetteville, Texas) make exterior repairs and to help the Sons of Hermann Lodge No. 301 (Deanville, Texas) update their electrical system. Previous Preservation Fund grants for roof repairs went to the Peters Hacienda Community Hall in Austin County and to Twin Sisters Dance Hall in Blanco, Texas.
Roof leaks and electrical issues are two of the most dangerous problems for historic wooden dance halls. As you can imagine, the need for critical repairs like these is great, so for #GivingTuesday, we’re raising another $5,000 to make at least two more grants this year.
You can help us make even more repairs like these. Every donation that you make between now and the end of the day on Tuesday, November 28, will go directly to help fix roof leaks, outdated electrical systems, and other problems that threaten historic dance halls.
Please visit www.texasdancehall.org/giving-tuesday. All donations will be DOUBLED, up to $1,500 — every $500 raised will be matched instantly by $500 Challenge Gift from one of our generous Challenge Sponsors!
