Lainey Wilson helped honor the victims of 9/11 with a moving performance of “Amazing Grace” beneath the Tribute in Light in New York City.
The performance was part of 9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan, an ABC News special marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Wilson sang “Amazing Grace” with a choir as the two beams of light representing the Twin Towers lit up the sky behind her.
Before the performance, Lainey shared her own memory of September 11. She was in fourth grade when her teacher rolled a television into the classroom and turned on the news.
“25 years later, I had the honor of performing in NYC at the base of the iconic beams where the Twin Towers stood and where nearly 3,000 people lost their lives,” Wilson wrote on social media. “A night I’ll never forget. God Bless America.”
The Tribute in Light has been a part of New York City’s September 11 remembrance since 2002, with two beams of light shining into the sky in memory of those who were lost.
9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
