Alan Jackson made a rare television appearance over the weekend during the annual National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C.
The country legend performed “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning),” the song he famously wrote following the September 11 attacks. Originally released in 2001, the song became one of the biggest and most important songs of Jackson’s career.
Jackson has mostly stepped away from touring in recent years as he continues to deal with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a degenerative nerve condition he revealed publicly in 2021. That made Sunday night’s performance feel even more meaningful for longtime fans.
The National Memorial Day Concert honors veterans, active military members, Gold Star families, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. Other performers during the broadcast included Jamey Johnson and Mickey Guyton.
