Chris Stapleton paid tribute to Willie Nelson this week with a performance of “Living In The Promiseland” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The song was originally released by Willie Nelson in 1986 as the lead single from his album The Promiseland. It became Willie’s twelfth No. 1 song as a solo artist.
Stapleton performed the song alongside Willie Nelson’s longtime harmonica player Mickey Raphael, who has been part of Willie’s band for decades.
The performance kept the focus on the music, with Stapleton delivering a stripped-down version of the classic song in his signature style.
