Kacey Musgraves is having a little fun with her new album rollout… and honestly, this might be one of her most entertaining promo moves yet.
In a new video, she goes completely undercover, throwing on a full-blown armadillo costume and heading out to buy her own record, Middle of Nowhere, like a regular shopper. She makes stops at places like Walmart, Barnes & Noble, and Target, casually wandering the aisles and even asking store employees if they carry the album.
At one point, she asks a Walmart worker about it… and gets a response along the lines of not recognizing her name at all. Meanwhile, her album is sitting right there on display.
From flipping through books in the kids section to dancing next to her own in-store setup, she fully commits to the bit before wrapping things up in classic Kacey fashion, sprawled out on the floor in costume.
The album, which dropped May 1, leans into themes of independence and figuring things out in that in-between space of life, something she’s described as her own version of the “middle of nowhere.”
And if this is how she’s choosing to celebrate it, we’re absolutely here for it.
