Midland is back with a new record on the way. The band will release their next album, Stages, on June 12 through Blue Highway Records.
The 10-track project was produced by Trent Willmon and includes songwriting credits from some heavy hitters, including Dean Dillon, Tim Nichols, Seth Ennis, Carson Chamberlain, Wyatt McCubbin, and Josh Osborne.
There are also a couple of notable collaborations on the album. Clint Black joins Midland on “Up In Texas,” and the record includes the previously released track “I Wish You Would” featuring Mackenzie Carpenter.
Bassist and vocalist Cameron Duddy says the album reflects everything the band has experienced along the way.
“We’ve gone so many places and done so many things. I think we got to that place in the road where we wanted to pull it all together,” Duddy shared. “The title is really a tribute to all the places where we’ve made our stand, but it’s also about all the phases and stages we’ve been through to get here.”
Frontman Mark Wystrach says digging into country music’s roots played a big role in shaping the project.
“The more you dig into country’s roots, the more there is to work with,” Wystrach said. “We’ve always had real respect for the original Texas and California country, so this album lets us pull all that through the songs we’ve written and found to really focus on what matters to us.”
Guitarist and vocalist Jess Carson says the band’s journey is all over this record.
“Nashville, Texas, California, everywhere in between… we’ve been in a pick-up, then a van and finally a bus,” Carson said. “The road dust, sweat, music listened to… it all seeps into who we are and what we do.”
