Country music may have lost one of its most iconic outlaws, but there’s still more music on the way from David Allan Coe.
Reports say Coe’s final album, which was recorded years ago but never released, could finally see the light of day later this year.
According to his longtime manager, Ken Madson, the project was originally recorded back in 2017 for a label that ultimately decided not to move forward with it. Since then, the album has remained shelved and unheard for nearly a decade.
Now, Madson says he hopes to release the record on September 6, 2026, a date that would have marked Coe’s 87th birthday.
The album is expected to include a mix of previously unreleased material and newer songs, including a track titled “A Million Reasons.”
Even though Madson reportedly owns the project, he’s also planning to involve Coe’s widow in the process, making sure the release is handled the right way.
Coe passed away this week at the age of 86, leaving behind a legacy that helped define the outlaw country movement.
