Oklahoma is officially honoring one of its own.
Governor Kevin Stitt has declared July 8, 2026 as “Toby Keith Day” in the state, recognizing the life and legacy of the country music icon.
The announcement came during Oklahoma Film and Music Day at the State Capitol, where the proclamation was presented as part of the celebration.
The date is meaningful. July 8 would have been Toby Keith’s 65th birthday.
Born in Clinton, Oklahoma, Toby Keith went on to become one of the biggest names in country music, all while staying deeply connected to his home state. From chart-topping hits to his longtime support of U.S. troops and charitable work, his impact reached far beyond the stage.
Now, Oklahoma is making sure that legacy is remembered every year.
