Chili has been at Austin Pets Alive! since the fall of 2022… and somehow, she’s still waiting.
She’s had sleepovers. She’s made friends. She’s learned the ropes.
But she hasn’t found her home yet.
And honestly… it’s not for lack of trying.
Chili is what you might call a “slow burn.” She’s not the run-up-and-jump-on-you type. She’ll give you that serious look at first like, “I’m not impressed.” But give her a little time… and that’s when the magic happens.
By the end of a visit, she’s taking treats from your hand and starting to let that goofy personality slip through.
Her volunteer crew will tell you… she’s worth the wait.
Chili came into the shelter stubborn as all get-out and fully committed to not learning a single thing.
Unfortunately for her… her people were even more stubborn.
Now? She knows sit, down (when she feels like it), place, and comes when called. Progress.
She’s also:
- Fully housetrained
- Quiet at home
- Totally fine being left alone
- Great on a leash
- A fan of long walks, toys, and long-lasting chews
And when she’s comfortable? That’s when you get the zoomies… the kind where her back end moves faster than the front. Absolute chaos in the best way.
She’ll burrow under blankets on cold mornings, keep your feet warm, and slowly but surely become your dog.
Chili isn’t looking for a one-time meet-and-greet. She’s looking for someone willing to show up a couple of times… earn her trust… and let her show you who she really is.
And when she does? It’s going to be worth it.
