Lukas Nelson is bringing his songwriting back to the big screen.
The singer-songwriter will write original music for an upcoming country comedy starring Texas native Glen Powell. The film is directed and produced by Judd Apatow and is scheduled to begin filming this spring, with a theatrical release set for February 5, 2027.
Nelson previously co-wrote music for A Star Is Born, earning Grammy and BAFTA recognition. For this project, he’s teaming up with Nashville songwriter ERNEST to help shape the film’s soundtrack.
The movie follows a country music star whose career starts to unravel. Cristin Milioti and Madeline Cline are also set to appear.
With Powell’s Texas roots, Apatow’s comedy track record, and Nelson’s country credibility, the project brings an authentic music voice into a major Hollywood production. More details are expected as filming gets underway.
