Country fans, get ready for something real. Charley Crockett, the Texas-born troubadour who’s been grinding it out on the road for years and dropping album after album, is about to show a different side of life on tour.
Crockett just announced that his new feature documentary, A Cowboy in London, will world-premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Thursday, February 5 (with another screening on Saturday, February 7).
In his own words, this isn’t polished Hollywood stuff: it’s honest, vulnerable, and even uncomfortable at times. He says it shows “the road the way it really is … no polish, no pretending,” and for anyone who’s ever wondered what it really costs to keep this career going year after year, this movie’s for you.
Crockett worked with long-time collaborator Jared Christopher, who’s been behind the camera for a lot of his photography and videography, to make the film. The documentary is billed as a deeper, more personal look at his life and music journey than past projects.
This follows another Crockett documentary (Charley Crockett: $10 Cowboy) that debuted last year at the Austin Film Festival and leaned more on live shows and album-release moments. A Cowboy in London sounds like it’ll go beyond that and pull back the curtain even more on the man behind the music.
Stay tuned … this one’s bound to be worth the watch when it gets its festival run.
