The first trailer for Madden is officially out, and it gives us our first real look at Nicolas Cage stepping into the role of legendary football coach and broadcaster John Madden.
The film looks like it’s taking a full-circle approach to Madden’s life, from his days coaching the Raiders and winning a Super Bowl, to becoming one of the most recognizable voices in sports, and eventually lending his name to the video game franchise that changed football forever. If you grew up hearing “Boom!” on Sundays or playing Madden until way too late at night, this one’s going to feel familiar.
The cast is stacked, too. Christian Bale plays longtime Raiders owner Al Davis, with John Mulaney, Shane Gillis, Kathryn Hahn, and Sienna Miller rounding out the lineup. Based on the trailer alone, it looks like the movie leans just as hard into Madden’s larger-than-life personality as it does the football side of things.
Madden is set to premiere on Prime Video around Thanksgiving 2026, which feels like a pretty perfect time for a football movie to drop. Whether you’re in it for the nostalgia, the football history, or just to see Cage fully commit to another unforgettable role, this one’s definitely worth keeping on your radar.
Give the trailer a watch above.
