Ashley McBryde has always had that “salt-of-the-earth, tell-you-the-truth” vibe, but now she’s taking it a step further with a brand-new nonprofit called the Light On Fund, a project she created straight from the heart (and named after the women who raised her right).
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because it ties back to her song “Light On In The Kitchen,” which was inspired by her mom and her two aunts. Ashley says the women in her life always reminded her that the small gestures, the ones from “one heart to another,” are the ones that matter most. So she built an entire foundation around that idea.
The fund officially launched on December 2nd, which just so happens to be her mom’s birthday. And in true Ashley fashion, she kicked things off by matching the proceeds from a charity auction of one of her own childhood dresses to support foster-care services in her Arkansas hometown. Talk about full-circle.
So what does the Light On Fund actually do? A little bit of everything good:
-
Veteran mental-health support
-
Recovery and rehab assistance for the creative community
-
Resources for kids in foster care
-
ASL interpretation at live shows so more fans can fully experience concerts
Ashley says she sees her shows as a 90-minute escape for fans who might be struggling, and she wants the Light On Fund to feel like that too. A safe place. A support system. A little bit of kindness when life gets heavy.
And honestly? It fits her perfectly. She’s one of the most genuine voices in country music, and this is just another example of her putting real heart behind the stories she sings.
If you want to learn more or support the cause, you can visit the Light On Fund through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and keep an eye out, because Ashley plans to highlight new focus areas each quarter.
