Eighteen-year-old Ty Myers, the singer-songwriter and guitarist out of Dripping Springs, Texas, just scored a massive milestone: he’s officially been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Not bad for someone who can’t even legally rent a car yet.
Myers has been on a rocket ride over the past year, and the numbers speak for themselves. His debut album The Select has already earned three RIAA certifications, including his first platinum single, “Ends of the Earth.” On top of that, he’s pulled in nearly a billion global streams. That’s billion with a B.
His rise has been so fast that his entire 73-date The Select Tour sold out, and now he’s gearing up for an even bigger stage: opening for Luke Combs in stadiums next spring. He’s also previously shared the stage with heavyweights like Tim McGraw, Old Dominion, and Willie Nelson, not a bad starter pack for an 18-year-old kid from the Hill Country.
The industry has taken notice too. Myers has been featured on Billboard’s 21 Under 21 list and named an “Artist to Watch” by Vevo, Spotify, Pandora, GRAMMY.com, and more.
The Forbes 30 Under 30 list is a big deal for a reason. Forbes writers and editors build the list using online submissions, recommendations from industry experts, and input from past honorees. They look at factors like funding, revenue, social impact, scale, inventiveness, and long-term potential when deciding who makes the cut.
In other words: you have to be doing something impressive and doing it fast.
And for Ty Myers to land on that list at 18, coming straight out of Dripping Springs? That says everything.
