Dolly Parton just added another major milestone to her already legendary career – an honorary Oscar recognizing her incredible impact on the world through charity and community work.
In a video shared with the Governors Awards, Dolly accepted the Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and, in true Dolly fashion, kept things humble, grateful, and full of heart.
“I’ve been blessed more than I ever dreamed possible,” she said, reflecting on her Tennessee upbringing in a house full of siblings and the importance of giving, sharing, and taking care of others.
From her Imagination Library, which has gifted over 230 million free books to children around the world, to countless fundraising efforts and community initiatives, Dolly’s impact reaches far beyond music. The Academy honored her for a lifetime of using her platform to make life a little better for everyone else and honestly, who could deserve it more?
