Ty Myers just dropped his take on Little Feat’s classic “Two Trains,” and he brought Marcus King along for the ride.
It’s the first time the two have worked together, and the song is full of bluesy guitar and soulful vocals. Produced by Brandon Hood, the track tells the story of a relationship that’s gone off the rails, complete with killer guitar work from Nashville pros Tom Bukovac and Kris Donegan.
The video, directed by John Park, was filmed at the legendary FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
It’s been a big year for Myers, who released The Select (and the Deluxe and Acoustic versions) and earned his first Platinum single with “Ends of the Earth.”
Guess you could say Ty’s got both trains running full steam ahead, one headed straight for the charts, and the other for our KOKE playlist.
Lyrics:
In 1966, I found my love
In 1967, I had it all there was
And as my time went by I was satisfied
’Til that situation it took me by surprise
And now there’s two trains running on that line
One train’s me, and the other’s a friend of mine
Don’t you know it would be alright, it’d be just fine
If the woman took one train, and left the other behind
Yeah, yeah, yeah, illusion, it is just the same
Conclusion, I don’t know how to play the game
Or what it is or how it’s gonna be
When one train is my friend and the other train is me
Easy, now I say easy
I can’t push or shove her, so I guess I really care
Now, I’m not one to hide my love behind a lock and key
But if things keep going the way they are, there ain’t no place left for me
And now there’s two trains running on that line
One train’s me, and the other’s a friend of mine
Don’t you know it would be alright, it’d be just fine
If the woman took one train, and left the other behind
Two trains (two trains)
In 1966, I found my love
Two trains (two trains)
Yeah two trains are running now
Come down that line
Two trains (two trains)
One train is my friend and the other train is me
Now baby
Two trains (two trains)
Oh yeah yeah
Two trains
