Central Texas live music just keeps on growing!
We’re thrilled to see our partners at Lightstream Presents continue to expand their footprint across the Lone Star State, this time with the addition of The Backyard Bar Stage & Grill in Waco!
For the past decade, The Backyard has been a local favorite, definitely a place where music, friends, and true Texas hospitality come together. From those packed Friday nights to those “only in Waco” moments, the venue has built a reputation for community, connection, and unforgettable shows.
Now, The Backyard is officially entering a new chapter. Lightstream Presents, the team already behind Haute Spot in Cedar Park and the newly revived Coupland Dancehall, finalized the acquisition last month. But before they take full control, original owners Chris, Chris, and Brian will continue operating the venue through the end of 2025 to celebrate a full decade of music and memories.
“We wouldn’t hand over our baby if we weren’t confident they can care for it better than we can,” the team shared. “We can’t wait to see the growth.”
That growth is already taking shape. The new ownership plans to enhance the sound, visuals, and amenities all while keeping the same staff and the same heart that makes The Backyard feel like home. Expect a continued lineup of both national touring acts and beloved Texas favorites, all while preserving the spirit that’s made Waco’s live-music scene so special.
With Haute Spot’s modern flair, Coupland Dancehall’s historic honky-tonk charm, and now The Backyard’s open-air magic, Lightstream’s network of stages is shaping up to be something truly special for live-music fans across Central Texas. We’re proud to see our partners keep raising the bar for what it means to experience live music in Texas.
And the party’s not slowing down anytime soon because 2025 will wrap up with a 10-year anniversary celebration featuring Diamond Rio, Randall King, Lil Joe y La Familia, Eli Young Band, a New Year’s Eve bash, and more.

Here’s to ten years of good times, cold beer, and Texas music and to an even bigger future ahead!
