The Red Clay Strays aren’t afraid to say what’s on their mind, and their brand-new single “People Hatin’” proves it. Dropping today on RCA Records, the song is a straight-up call for folks to quit tearing each other apart and remember that, at the end of the day, we’re all just trying to figure this life thing out.
Frontman Brandon Coleman talked about the track recently on The Joe Rogan Experience. He said the band originally wasn’t planning to release “People Hatin’” as a single, but after watching how ugly and divided things have gotten, especially in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death, they decided the world needed to hear it now.
Coleman summed it up: “We’ve got to stop killing each other over beliefs, and hating each other over beliefs. Everybody’s race is different, everybody’s experiencing life different, and trying to figure it out the same as you are.”
The song itself leans into that frustration but still holds out hope. With lines like “Hey, people hatin’ / You’re not listening to what I’m saying / I’m sick of waiting / All this arguing is aggravating” … it’s equal parts fed up and hopeful.
The Strays dropped a powerful music video to go along with it, and honestly, it hits just as hard as the song.
