Cody Johnson scored a huge honor in Nashville on Sept. 23rd at the Ryman Auditorium. His hit “Dirt Cheap” was named Song of the Year at the 2025 Nashville Songwriter Awards. The song, written by Josh Phillips, also topped the “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written” list, voted on by Nashville’s songwriting community.
Other big winners from the night included Ashley Gorley (Songwriter of the Year), Matthew West (Songwriter-Artist of the Year), and Alabama, who took home the Kris Kristofferson Lifetime Achievement Award. Brenda Lee was recognized with the NSAI President’s Keystone Award, and Dolly Parton’s classic “I Will Always Love You” was honored as the Legendary Song.
It was a big night for songwriters – and another big win for CoJo.
