Ashley McBryde just gave fans exactly what they’ve been begging for an official music video for “Rattlesnake Preacher.” After years of it being one of her most-requested live songs, she finally cut it for the new record, and now we’ve got the visuals to match.
The video, which dropped this week, feels like it crawled straight out of the swampy, Southern gothic world the song lives in. Dark, moody, and full of symbolism, it leans heavy into the preacher imagery and that whole rattlesnake-handling vibe the lyrics hint at. Basically, it’s haunting, badass, and 100% Ashley.
What makes this song so special is the backstory. It was written by her late friend and co-writer Randall Clay, and Ashley has always said his work would have a home with her. You can feel that love and respect in how much energy she and her band poured into the recording and now the video takes it even further.
Even while she’s on vocal rest after her recent throat injury, Ashley is still finding ways to connect with fans, and this release proves it. She didn’t just put out a video, she gave this fan-favorite song the treatment it deserves.
If you haven’t watched yet, do yourself a favor and hit play. It’s equal parts eerie and electrifying, and it’s going to stick with you long after the final frame.
