We are learning some sad news out of Nashville today. Joe Bonsall, a tenor singer for the heritage country music group, the Oak Ridge Boys, died Tuesday.
The announcement was posted on the bands official website and shared through Facebook.
Bonsall died from complications of ALS, he was 76 years old.
Bonsall announced his retirement from the road earlier this year, stating that life on the road had become difficult and the disease had affected his mobility. He was member of the Grand Ole Opry and had been inducted into the Philadelphia Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Bonsall authored 11 books, including a memoir “I See Myself” set to be released in November.
Per his wishes, in lieu of a funeral, the family has requested that people donate to The ALS Association or to the Vanderbilt Medical Center ALS and Neuroscience Research Center in his honor.
