Vince Gill is clearly one of the all-time greats. With a solo career as a vocalist, writer, guitar player, and band member his career in the industry is far from one-dimensional.
It’s no surprise that Vince was honored in the latest episode of CMT Giants with a number of greats and legends of their own singing Gill songs and sharing kind words.
Maybe no better performance was that of Texan Cody Johnson with “When I Call Your Name”
“You dedicated your life to country music, I personally want to thank you for that because it’s given me the courage to dedicate my life to country music.
When I think about vocalists, male vocalists in particular that I was influenced by as a young kid, I think about Glen Campbell, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Vince Gill.”
