A poster from a show that Hank Williams never got to perform in Canton, Ohio on New Years Day in 1953 sold at an auction in Dallas for a record $150,000.
According to SavingCountryMusic.com, the poster was found in a Canton barn years ago and has switched hands before hitting the auction block at Heritage Auction Galleries where it became the highest concert poster ever sold on May 1st.
Hank was supposed to fly to Canton, but bad weather forced him to hire a driver where he died in the back seat from heart failure. The show went on as a tribute to the “Hillbilly Shakespeare,” with Hawkshaw Hawkins.
