Our hearts are heavy as Austin has lost another gifted singer/songwriter. Denny Freeman, 76, passed away Sunday after a short, but aggressive, battle with cancer. Denny was a staple at many of the heritage venues in and around Austin, playing with the best of the best. An acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, Denny played with Bob Dylan, the Vaughn Brothers, the Sexton brothers, Percy Sledge, James Cotton, Taj Mahal and others. He was a writer, singer, composer, friend, and brother to so many. Denny Freeman was part of what made the fabric that is the Austin music scene. Our hearts are with his family and friends.
