It’s a sad day for Houston Texans fans.
The face of the franchise for the past ten years, J.J. Watt, is leaving the team per his request.
In a video posted on his social media watt stated “I have sat down with the McNair family and I have asked them for my release and we have mutually agreed to part ways at this time,”
The 2011, 11th overall pick said that Texas will always be a part of his life.
“I came here 10 years ago as a kid from Wisconsin who’d never really been to Texas before. And now I can’t imagine my life without Texas in it. The way that you guys have treated me, besides draft night. I mean, you guys booed me on draft night. But every day after that, you treated me like family. And I truly feel like you’re my family. I’m excited and looking forward to a new opportunity, and I’ve been working extremely hard. But at the same time, it is always tough to move on. And I just want you guys to know that I love you. I appreciate you. I appreciate the McNair family for drafting me and giving me my first opportunity in the NFL.”

Could the 31-year-old hall of farmer make his way on to the Dallas Cowboys team? Maybe, but not likely, he is looking for a team that will enter the 2021 season with a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl, and with Dak Prescott’s injury status unknown and other factors the Cowboys might not be the first pick for Watt.
“I personally believe that I do have a few more great ones left in me. But you also can’t … I’m not looking to rebuild. I’m looking to go after a championship, and that’s what I want to do.” -Watt on what team he is looking to sign with.
Watt is free to sign with whatever team he chooses and was able to get out of the remainder of his contract originally created in 2014.
