Be looking for Reba McEntire to be back on your television screen again soon!
According to Variety, Reba will star in a new NBC drama based on the film and novel Fried Green Tomatoes.
Norman Lear, who executive produced the Fried Green Tomatoes movie, will produce the show, while Reba has also been confirmed to executive produce in addition to her starring role.
The hour long drama will center around present-day Idgie Threadgoode – played by Reba – who returns to Whistle Stop after 10 years away. After arriving, she has to deal with a changed down, her estranged daughter, a failing cafe and a “life-changing secret.”
The Fried Green Tomatoes novel was originally released in 1987 and the movie followed in 1991. The original film starred Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary-Louise Parker, and Cicely Tyson.
