Gary Allan is one of those artists where anyone who listens to country radio knows a handful of his songs but maybe not his name.
He’s one of the most underrated singers, but hasn’t done a whole lot of late. Since his last album in 2013 he’s come out with a few singles. ‘Hangover Tonight’ featuring Chris Stapleton is super fun and I love ‘Do You Wish It Was Me’ from 2016, but they didn’t have that same Gary feel that made the rest of his music timeless.
Well, ‘Waste Of A Whiskey Drink’ has that feel. It’s about that girl we either all know or maybe have gotten tangled up with.
“It’s about a girl that you just don’t want any of your friends to get tangled up with. You’ve been there. And you’re telling him as he’s looking at her and thinking she’s cute… and you’re saying, ‘Man, just do something else because she’s a waste of a whiskey drink. Don’t do it.’”
