Alright, this one’s got our attention.
Glenn Powell is officially bringing country music to the big screen, and now we finally know what to call it. The upcoming comedy is titled The Comeback King, and it’s headed to theaters on February 5, 2027.
The film teams Powell up with Judd Apatow, who’s directing and co-writing the project. That alone should tell you the tone. Expect something funny, a little offbeat, and probably a pretty honest look at the music business too.
The story follows a washed-up country artist trying to claw his way back into relevance after things go sideways. So yeah… plenty of room there for some industry truths, a little ego, and hopefully a killer soundtrack to go with it.
Lukas Nelson is involved on the music side, writing original songs for the film alongside Nashville songwriter Ernest Keith Smith. So this isn’t just a movie with country music in it, there’s some real credibility behind the scenes.
The cast is stacked with Cristin Milioti, Madelyn Cline, and Stavros Halkias joining Powell, which gives it a mix of comedy chops and some serious on-screen presence.
No word yet on which artists might be involved on the music side, but you have to imagine there’ll be some real country ties baked into this thing. If they get that part right, this could land in a big way with fans.
Either way, a country music comeback story with Glenn Powell at the center? We’re in.
