If you’ve been waiting on something that leans hard into traditional country, here you go.
Mo Pitney and Jake Worthington just dropped a brand new collaboration, “Wake Up And Smell The Country,” and it’s about as country as it sounds.
The song officially came out March 27 as a standalone single on Curb Records, clocking in right around three minutes of straight-up fiddle, steel, and honky-tonk attitude.
That’s really the story here. This isn’t trying to be anything trendy. It’s two guys who actually sound like country music doubling down on what they do best.
Jake Worthington has been on a tear lately in the Texas scene and beyond, and pairing him with Mo Pitney, who’s been carrying the traditional torch in Nashville for years, just makes sense.
Lyrically, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a title like that. A little tongue-in-cheek, a little pride, and a whole lot of “this is who we are” energy.
If you’ve been missing songs that actually sound like country, this one’s worth your time.
