Kacey Musgraves officially kicked off a brand-new album era today, and fans are already digging through the details.
The Texas native announced that her next album, Middle of Nowhere, is set to arrive May 1, 2026, marking her first new full-length project since 2024’s Deeper Well.
Along with the announcement, Musgraves also shared the full 13-song track list, and it immediately got people talking. The project includes several big-name collaborations, including appearances from Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings, and Gregory Alan Isakov.
That mix of artists hints that the album may lean a little more into country and Americana territory, something fans have been hoping to hear again.
Musgraves also dropped the first single from the project today, a song called “Dry Spell.” The track arrived alongside a brand-new music video and kicked off what many fans are already calling her next album era.
Leading up to the announcement, Musgraves had been teasing the song with a playful marketing campaign that included billboards and a phone number fans could call to hear a teaser of the track. Naturally, the internet ran with it.
According to Musgraves, the album was written during a time of major personal reflection and independence in her life, which helped shape the themes throughout the project.
While fans will have to wait until May to hear the full album, the track list alone is already creating plenty of conversation … especially the duet with fellow Texan Miranda Lambert and a collaboration with Willie Nelson.
