Classic country fans got an unexpected turn this past weekend when ’90s legend Mark Chesnutt had to end his Alabama concert early due to illness. The show at the Oxford Performing Arts Center came to a halt after just a few songs when Chesnutt suddenly couldn’t continue and didn’t return to the stage.
Here’s the venue’s official post:
According to reports, the 62-year-old singer has been battling a sinus infection that was affecting his voice, and that’s what ultimately forced him to step off the mic.
That wasn’t the only change to his schedule either, Chesnutt canceled or postponed two other shows that were set for Georgia and North Carolina around Valentine’s weekend. The North Carolina date has already been rescheduled for March 29.
His team says this isn’t anything serious, just one of those sickness-on-the-road moments that even country road warriors hit sometimesand, that Chesnutt should be back out on the stage soon. Fans sent love online, and the venue will give refunds or let folks swap tickets for the rescheduled show.
