Big news from one of Texas country music’s favorite bands: Flatland Cavalry announced that their fifth full-length studio album, Work of Heart, will be released March 27 via Lost Highway Records.
Recorded at Matchbox Studios in Austin with producer Dwight A. Baker, this one comes straight from the soul. Frontman and lyricist Cleto Cordero says this batch of songs grew out of real life:
“This album is a collection of songs of life, love, and loss collected over a season of living, learning, and growing … My approach has been the same the whole time in the sense of showing up to write a song with all my heart, my mind, and soul.”
That vibe shows up on every one of the 12 brand-new tracks, including the already-released snippets like “Gone,” “On and On”, and their current country radio single “Never Comin’ Back.”
Work of Heart Track List:
1. “Gone” (Cleto Cordero, Ryan Beaver, Aaron Eshuis)
2. “On and On” (Cleto Cordero, Ray Fulcher, Cole Taylor)
3. “Bird’s Eye View” (Cleto Cordero, Ryan Beaver, Aaron Eshuis)
4. “Never Comin’ Back” (Cleto Cordero, Luke Laird, Aaron Raitiere)
5. “Unglued” (Cleto Cordero, Dwight Baker)
6. “Life, Love, and Happiness (Entertainer’s Lament)” (Cleto Cordero, Jason Nix)
7. “Flicker” (Cleto Cordero, Jason Albers, Reid Dillon)
8. “Work of Heart” (Cleto Cordero, Clara Calaway)
9. “Long Goodnight” (Cleto Cordero, Rodney Clawson)
10. “Nightshine” (Cleto Cordero, Dwight Baker)
11. “Real Slow” (Cleto Cordero, Dwight Baker, Conner Smith)
12. “All or Nothing” (Cleto Cordero)
And now there’s even more. Flatland Cavalry will launch the Work of Heart Tour starting March 19 in Mobile, Alabama. The run stretches across 37 dates and continues through August 22, with stops planned in Corpus Christi, Richmond, Lexington, Detroit, Little Rock, Kansas City and many more cities before wrapping in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The headline dates follow the band’s current overseas stretch supporting Lainey Wilson in Australia and New Zealand, meaning 2026 is already stacked with new music and plenty of miles.
