If you thought “February 28” was just another date on the calendar, think again.
Koe Wetzel is officially rallying fans and locals alike to make February 28 an official holiday in his hometown of Pittsburg, Texas. The move isn’t a joke … it’s a full-on petition push with one simple mission: recognize the date forever as “Koe Wetzel Day.”
For die-hard fans, that day isn’t random. It’s the namesake of one of Wetzel’s most beloved tracks, inspired by real-life mischief from back in 2016 and has become a fan-favorite anthem. Every year, the unofficial celebration gets bigger, with fans sharing memories, stories, and plenty of wild plans tied to the day. (Here’s looking at you Taco Bell.)
Now, Koe’s taking it to the next level, literally putting it on the civic calendar. A petition launched on koewetzelday.com lets folks sign their support to make February 28 a recognized hometown holiday in Pittsburg, complete with official acknowledgment from city leaders and future celebrations.
In an official message, the City didn’t just confirm they like the idea, they said they’ve been quietly working with Wetzel’s family and team on something even bigger than a one-day holiday. City officials hinted the first phase of this effort could roll out downtown very soon.
