Texas favorite Barry Corbin is headed to Bastrop to help kick off this year’s Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering, and if you love western film, television, and hearing stories from someone who’s truly lived it, you’ll want to be there.
With more than 230 IMDb credits, Corbin is one of those actors you recognize immediately. Audiences remember him from Urban Cowboy, Lonesome Dove, WarGames and Northern Exposure, and his career is still rolling with appearances in The Ranch, Yellowstone, Tulsa King and Killers of the Flower Moon.
Corbin will open the gathering on Wednesday evening, February 18, with his live presentation, “An Evening with Barry Corbin,” a celebration of his life and career filled with the kind of memories and moments only he can tell. Fans will also have another chance to see him during a press conference at the Bastrop Convention Center at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, where he’ll appear alongside several of the poets and musicians taking part in the event.
The Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering continues to grow, and organizers say the festival will expand in 2026 with events happening in both Bastrop and Alpine. The annual celebration brings together top cowboy poets, western musicians, storytellers, and fans for a few days of heritage, laughter, and great music.
