Ty Myers has unveiled a new chapter in his growing catalog with the release of “Message to You.”
The song arrives alongside a new music video and continues the rollout for Myers’ upcoming sophomore album, Heavy On the Soul, due out March 27th. The 18-year-old Texas native had a heavy hand in the project, writing 11 of the album’s 17 tracks on his own.
Directed by John Park, the video for “Message to You” unfolds in a warm, sunlit living room where Myers sits alone, scribbling lyrics into a notebook. As the song plays on, movers quietly pass through the frame, removing furniture piece by piece until the room is completely bare. In the final moments, the camera pulls back to reveal the space as a constructed set on a soundstage, leaving Myers alone with his guitar as the screen fades to black.
“Message to You” follows Myers’ October release of “Two Trains,” a Little Feat cover featuring Marcus King, and marks the fifth song shared from Heavy On the Soul. Fans have already heard “Leaving Carolina,” “Through a Screen,” and “Come On Over, Baby” in the lead-up to the album.
According to Myers, the song came together quickly during a trip to Barbados.
“I woke up in the middle of the night with a song idea and wrote it in about 25 minutes,” Myers shared. “Then I went back to sleep. When it pours out, it just pours out.”
The track was recorded at FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, with an all-star lineup that included guitarist Tom Bukovac, steel guitarist Bruce Bouton, bassist Mark Hill, and keyboardist Gordon Mote. Longtime collaborator Brandon Hood returned to the producer’s chair for the session.
