Last night at the legendary Grand Ole Opry, one of country music’s most beloved voices was welcomed into the Opry family in a moment many fans have been waiting decades for. Suzy Bogguss, platinum-selling country singer and ’90s trailblazer, was officially inducted as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry!
Bogguss, whose hits like “Someday Soon,” “Aces,” “Outbound Plane” and “Drive South” helped define a generation of country music lovers, has been a favorite on the Opry stage since her debut back in 1989. But last night was extra special: she crossed the circle for good, accepted by her peers, her friends, and the heart of country music itself.
Adding to the magic, Reba McEntire was on hand to do the honors. Reba, who was celebrating her own 40th anniversary as an Opry member last night, inducted Suzy with warmth, laughter, and emotion that had the entire Opry House buzzing.
Reba shared heartfelt words about Suzy’s voice, her career, and what the Opry family means and it’s clear that this wasn’t just a performance, it was a long-awaited moment of recognition from one legend to another.
Friends and fellow Opry members Trisha Yearwood, Terri Clark and Kathy Mattea also appeared to celebrate with Suzy, joining in on performances and standing ovations that spilled over with joy and respect.
And the festivities didn’t stop there! After Suzy’s induction, Reba closed out her anniversary celebration with a set that included “I’m A Survivor,” “Happy’s Place,” and “Back To God.” To cap it all off, Reba brought Suzy, Clark, Mattea, and Yearwood back out for a spirited rendition of “Why Haven’t I Heard From You.”
For Suzy Bogguss, this induction wasn’t just a trophy, it was the culmination of decades of songs, tours, and faithful work that helped shape country music for fans everywhere. And for Reba, it was a powerful reminder of her own four decades on the Opry stage, from a hopeful young singer whose first appearance almost didn’t happen, to the queen of the Opry House she is today.
Congrats Suzy! Well deserved.
